Biography:

Pietro Ponti is a Visual Effects Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic, where he has been contributing since 2021, bringing with him over 15 years of industry experience. Before joining ILM, Ponti served as VFX Supervisor and Head of VFX at Important Looking Pirates, where he led visual effects efforts on major studio features such as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Disney’s Aladdin (live-action), and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. His work also extended to high-profile episodic productions, including HBO’s Lovecraft Country. In addition to his creative leadership, Ponti played a key role in expanding ILP’s production infrastructure and workflows. He is widely recognised for his ability to guide complex projects involving expansive environments, sophisticated FX work, and large shot volumes, consistently embracing technical and creative challenges. Earlier in his career at Double Negative, Ponti contributed to blockbuster franchises such as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the Harry Potter series, and Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World. There, he was also deeply involved in mentoring junior artists and supporting their development through on-show training.
